Handwoven asymmetrical shirt / shawl / wrap / sweater
Handwoven in multiple squares on a continuous weaving loom then seamed together, this is a fun bit of wearable art made from 100% hyper-local Southdown wool. It’s a rectangle, with one seam at a shoulder, so it’s worn like a wrap/overshirt/poncho. Fairly free-size, the entire fabric measures 30 x 60 inches.
I washed, dyed, spun and wove this garment.
Southdown wool is a squishy, soft, lofty wool so this is a light yet warm garment. This type of wool resists felting so it’s fairly easy to handwash at home, but could also be dry cleaned.
There is a slight amount of lanolin left in this wool, fyi. It also has been created in a home with cats, and I do burn Incense.
